The Birth of an Art and the Future

Music is a form of art that millions of people around the world appreciate. In one way or another, it is a part of all of our lives. Hip Hop is one of the several genres of music that is shared and loved by many. Since the early 70s, the world has gotten a taste of hip hop and has since gone on to be one of the most popular forms of music today. Originally derived from Disco, it was then that the African American and Latino youth had something they were able to relate to during this time period. This form of art has been molded and shaped to fit the individuality of each artist that represents who they are.
Several artists which include greats such as DJ Kool Herc (also known as "the grandfather of hip hop"), Run DMC, and Dr. Dre to name just a few who have all contributed to the hip hop culture as well as help it evolve as artists with their talents. There are many other artists, well known and in the indy scene who look up to them and hope to follow in their path, or even pave a path of their own. Scribble Jam was a festival that has helped many of these aspiring artists become recognized among many. With over 10 years of competitions and many artists gaining the spotlight, Scribble Jam has gone from something that started off small and grew into an annual event that many individuals were able to look forward to and to showcase their talents to others.
The National Hip Hop Competition is doing things just a little differently. We are traveling to various major cities across the United States in search of local artists to give them an opportunity to express their talents to their city and move on to the national scene. We are bringing awareness to local artists and producers in the hip hop scene and putting the spotlight on those who have yet to shine.
Registrations for the NHHC are currently open for those to join the freestyle and beat battles. Winners will receive multiple prizes including an international distribution and a production deal. Not only is this an opportunity for local artists to be heard, but also an opportunity for music lovers to discover fresh talent. Please check out our site for tickets and further details...
